Why is breakfast important? It is the first meal of the day.
What happens if you skip breakfast? If you skipped breakfast, you would be hungry and not fully energized for the day. Your brain would not get the fuel it needs.
What is your favorite breakfast? Cinnamon Toast Crunch!
Pat-Yourself-on-the-Back Pancakes

Ingredients
- ¾ c buttermilk
- 1 c whole-wheat flour
- 2 T sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 2 T butter, melted
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large mixing bowl. Whisk egg and butter into buttermilk. Pour the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and whisk until lumps are gone. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and coat with cooking spray. Pour a little batter onto the skillet. This recipe should give you 8 pancakes. Cook until bubbles appear on the surface. Flip with a spatula and cook until browned on the other side. Serve with fresh fruit or syrup.
