Before I Had Kids, I Never Planted a Fake Tree

Before I had kids, I never planted a fake tree.  Before I had kids, I had never bought chicken nuggets, tater tots, or fruit snacks.  Before I had kids, I went to Jazzercise, did yoga, and went for walks with friends.  Before I had kids, I didn’t have to take out the trash as much.

Now that I have kids, I still try.  I still try to make my world and the world around me a little greener, and healthier.  Now I just have to be more creative in the time and money I spend on plants, feeding my family and being physically active.

Even though I did plant a fake tree we are trying to grow green beans and I still splurge on annual flowers.  Planting flowers and plants with my kids makes me happy and gets us outside and moving.  Even though I do serve foods such as chicken nuggets and tator tots I always try to include a fruit and vegetable (canned, frozen, or fresh) with most meals.  Even though I can’t go to Jazzercise as much as I’d like or find time to relax with yoga, I do find time for family walks and kicking the soccer ball in the back yard.  Even though we now have more trash we have gotten much better at recycling boxes, bottles, cans and paper.

What do you do to make your world greener, and healthier?
