Gifts for a Foodie!

I love this time of year—because every cool food gadget that you never needed comes out in stores and is on sale.  Did I really need a salt cellar?  Maybe not—but how cool is that!  Hmmm….what about the PC hamburger smasher—yes—that really works—and the kids love to use it for other things!  Cool idea.  My problem is that while I am out shopping for others, I find cooking gifts that would be perfect for me!  Not what I was looking for—but still cool.

This year is no different.  I have already seen a few simple foodie gifts that would be fun to receive—and useful.  So, if you have a great cook on your list, or a Martha Stewart wanna-be, check out some of these ideas!

Herbs in a pot.  Who doesn’t like fresh herbs to cook with?  Having a fresh pot to pick from when cooking would be great.  I saw this pot at the local grocery store.  It is a neat idea for a grouping of herbs for a particular meal.  You could go to your local lawn and garden and put together your own pot of “meal herb.”  Maybe a pizza herb pot, or one with lavender and rosemary for a baker.  The possibilities are endless.

Gifts in a jar are always popular. Cookie mixes or cocoa mixes are always appreciated—and make great teacher gifts.  Adding a decorative spoon or ribbon makes it pretty and simple.  Purchasing a large coffee cup and adding a few packets of cocoa and instant soup along with candy canes dipped in chocolate are simple gifts.  Again, you can get as crafty (or in my case not!) as you want.  Give my friend Alice’s website a look for more gift ideas!
