Boca and Weight Watchers

Soy food products—simple to make and tasty to eat.  Yet, I am always surprised that so many people haven’t had them yet.  I love the burgers and the crumbles.  The chicken patties are good, as are their entrees.  I have served these products at home long before they became “trendy.” I’m talking about Boca products.  I started with Boca burgers, and these come in many flavor varieties.  I branched out into the crumbles as a quick alternative to hamburger.  I do not have anything against hamburger—in fact it’s probably my favorite food next to chocolate!   It’s so simple to open up a bag of soy crumbles and add them to lasagna or spaghetti sauce.  Voila!  Dinner is served quickly!

Soy has been recognized by the FDA as a heart healthy food that may lower bad cholesterol and reduce the chances of heart disease.  The recommendations are 25 grams of soy a day.  They have also done studies that show that many women reduce their menopause symptoms by consuming soy.  It’s a great source of protein, fiber, and nine essential amino acids.  And it tastes great, too!

So, what do I do with it?  I add the soy sausage crumbles to a jar of spaghetti sauce.  I add the regular crumbles when I make lasagna.  I love the burgers on the grill in the summer or in a pan in the winter (since my grill is still covered with two feet of snow!).  I like the chicken patties on a bun.  I make a casserole with soy crumbles instead of ground round from Hunts, and my husband thinks it’s great!  My family loves Boca products also.  My children have eaten soy blog 2products since they were two—and really like them.

The nice part about these products right now, is that I have learned that they are VERY low in Weight Watchers points!   Their original burgers are only 1 point!   That’s very low for a burger product.  So, if you are watching your weight, try adding one meal with soy in it a week.  I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!  If you’re still keeping track—I am down 42 pounds.  That’s the weight of my 5 year old!  I challenge you to keep your New Year’s resolutions—you’ll feel better.  It’s never too late to start.   Boca has a wonderful web site with great recipes.  Check it out for more ideas.

was there any reason you said your kids had been eating soy since they were 2. Is there any reason kids under 2 should not eat soy?

  3. I love and use the crumbles in my tacos and spaghetti sauce. Great job with the weight loss Cindy!

I justed made the Tator Tot casserole using soy crumbles from Boca and my husband had no clue. Later I did tell him and he agreed to let me put it in our spaghetti sauce. I like that it is so easy to use. I don’t have to take the time to brown meat.
