Farmers Markets

When you work at the Extension Office, you can tell spring has arrived by a couple of signs.  First, the master gardeners have come back and have started answering gardening calls--lots of them!  The second sign is the start of local farmers markets.  Many have started--and others will start soon. IN SEASON: ASPARAGUS

You definitely know it is spring because of the crisp, round spears of asparagus that are in the produce aisles. When selecting or harvesting asparagus the tips should be pointed and tightly closed. To ensure cooking times for all spears are similar, select asparagus with the same thickness.
