Grilled Vegetables–Not Like Your Mom Made!

Drawbacks to Gardening in the City

Nebraska weather is crazy!  One day it’s over 100 degrees, and the next it barely makes 70!  That’s where we have been in the last two weeks.  The kids are keeping it watered—and it is incredible!  Last week we planted sunflower seeds in plastic cups to demonstrate what roots look like and why they are important.  Everyone had sunflower spouts this week!  I explained that roots are like straws to feed plants.  This seemed to go over OK. Gardening in Omaha

Rain + Sun + Heat= Great Plant Growth!   That’s what has been going on this week! We had over two inches of rain in the past week, and the temperature has been at least 70°F.  This is perfect weather for plants to grow!  I went back yesterday to help plant our tomatoes, broccoli and egg plant.  The enthusiasm of the kids and their teachers was incredible!  Almost everything we planted from seeds last week came up.  The radishes are about 1
