It\u2019s basically a high-protein, high-fiber eating plan that promises weight loss without cutting calories.\u00a0 Does this sound too good to be true?<\/p>\n<p>On the Paleo Diet <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Food You Can Eat<\/span><\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fresh Lean Meats<\/li>\n<li>Fish<\/li>\n<li>Fresh Fruit<\/li>\n<li>Fresh Vegetables<\/li>\n<li>Eggs<\/li>\n<li>Nuts, &amp; Seeds<\/li>\n<li>Olive Oil &amp; Coconut<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Well that doesn\u2019t sounds too hard to do.\u00a0 Until I read the list of <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Foods I Can\u2019t Eat:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No Processed Foods<\/li>\n<li>No Wheat<\/li>\n<li>No Dairy<\/li>\n<li>No Grains<\/li>\n<li>No Legumes (such as peanuts and beans)<\/li>\n<li>No Refined Sugar<\/li>\n<li>No Potatoes<\/li>\n<li>No Salt<\/li>\n<li>No refined vegetable oil such as canola oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Paleo diet does encourage eating more fruits and vegetables, cutting out added sugar and sodium, which aligns with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnpp.usda.gov\/DietaryGuidelines.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Dietary Guidelines<\/a>.\u00a0 Although, the diet does exceed the Dietary Guidelines for daily fat and protein intake and falls short on carbohydrate recommendations.\u00a0 Contrary to popular beliefs carbohydrates or carbs are not the bad guy.\u00a0 Carbs are essential to providing our body and brain with the energy and nutrients it needs.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.choosemyplate.gov\/food-groups\/grains-why.html\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to read more about why carbohydrates are good for you.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0The exclusion of whole grains, dairy foods, and legumes puts our bodies at risk by not getting vital vitamins and minerals such as calcium, vitamin D and B vitamins.<\/p>\n<p>So going back to the question, does this sound too good to be true?
