recipe in &#8220;that&#8221; cookbook?\u00a0 I have-frequently!\u00a0 I am a recipe junky-I admit it.\u00a0 I own many (hundreds) of cookbooks.\u00a0 I tear recipes out of magazines and newspapers.\u00a0 I print them off the web.\u00a0 I have files at home (big ones) with recipes I&#8217;d like to try.\u00a0 I will have to live to be 200 years old to try all of them.\u00a0 My husband kindly asked me to keep the number of cookbooks I own down to what will fit on our bookshelves.\u00a0 I agreed.\u00a0 The book shelf is now full, and when I get a new cookbook, I bring it to work.\u00a0 I am sure that there is a twelve-step program somewhere for people like me!<\/p>\n<p>The positive part of owning cookbooks and clipping recipes is that I like to cook.\u00a0 I love to cook from scratch whenever possible, which is not as often as I would like.\u00a0 In these economic times, it is much cheaper to make dinner at home, or sack lunches, and much healthier.\u00a0 I remember when I was growing up, my Mom made everything from scratch-even ketchup.\u00a0 We had a garden and she canned\/baked\/made everything we ate.\u00a0 I was a lucky kid!\u00a0 She had recipes!\u00a0 Some were new, others passed down from generation to generation.\u00a0 These were tried and true recipes.\u00a0 These are the ones I am trying to put together in one place so I can pass them down to my children.<\/p>\n<p>Years ago I decided to start placing my recipes in a recipe program.\u00a0 I went to my local electronics store and purchased a $10 recipe program that allowed me to place my recipes in the categories I choose, and also provided nutritional information for each recipe.\u00a0 I have since learned that I DON&#8217;T want to know the calorie count of some of my Grandma&#8217;s recipes!\u00a0 Ignorance is great.\u00a0 I have placed about 250 recipes in my program so far.\u00a0 I have a whole pile of family recipes to enter yet.\u00a0 It is an ongoing task.\u00a0 I add them on my computer at home, than transfer those to my computer at work, so I can send out tried and true recipes if someone asks for one specifically.\u00a0 My goal is to get them all entered, then add some family pictures and bind them to give to my siblings and Mom.\u00a0 My only problem is that I don&#8217;t know if I&#8217;ll ever be done!\u00a0 I have decided to add folder sleeves to my cookbooks so I can add recipes as I tear them out of magazines.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nutritionknowhow.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/book-case.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-854\" style=\"float: right; margin: 2px; border: black 2px solid;\" title=\"book-case\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/nutritionknowhow.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/book-case-300x200.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are compiling recipes, you don&#8217;t have to purchase a program.\u00a0 There are many free programs online that you can use.\u00a0 Some companies like <a title=\"Kraft recipe Box\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kraftfoods.com\/kf\/registration\/contextualsignuplogin.aspx?redirect=1\" target=\"_blank\">Kraft <\/a>or <a title=\"Land O Lakes website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.landolakes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Land O Lakes <\/a>offers you their software to store your recipes in.\u00a0 I really like the recipes on their sites-and they print so nicely with pictures!\u00a0 If you are a recipe junky like me, send me your favorite recipes-I&#8217;d love to try them out before I retire!\u00a0 I am including one of my family&#8217;s favorite recipes.\u00a0 It is a chocolate chip cookie recipe that makes soft, chewy cookies, which taste wonderful warm, or straight out of the freezer.<\/p>\n<p>Jello Chocolate Chip Cookies<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>cup<\/td>\n<td>\u00a0 \u00a0butter<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>3\/4<\/td>\n<td>cup<\/td>\n<td>\u00a0 \u00a0brown sugar<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>2<\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td>\u00a0 \u00a0eggs<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>teaspoon<\/td>\n<td>\u00a0 \u00a0baking soda<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>package<\/td>\n<td>\u00a0 \u00a0chocolate chips<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1\/4<\/td>\n<td>cup<\/td>\n<td>\u00a0 \u00a0sugar<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>teaspoon<\/td>\n<td>\u00a0 \u00a0vanilla<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>2 1\/4<\/td>\n<td>cups<\/td>\n<td>\u00a0 \u00a0flour<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>small<\/td>\n<td>\u00a0 \u00a0instant pudding mix- vanilla<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cream butter, sugars, vanilla and dry pudding mix together.\u00a0 Add eggs.\u00a0 Add flour and soda.\u00a0 Mix well.\u00a0 Stir in chips.\u00a0 Batter will be stiff.
