As the &#8220;umbrella&#8221; campaign for print, radio and TV advertising, as well as public relations, promotions and other initiatives, the &#8220;got milk?&#8221; message is one that&#8217;s on everyone&#8217;s lips across the U.S. Since its inception, this fun and compelling message has helped boost awareness of the nutritional aspects of milk, and was the impetus to expand the availability of milk to more consumers than ever before.<\/p>\n<p>Milk now competes with an ever-growing number of beverages in a category that is one of the most competitive, most advertised and well funded. Despite milk&#8217;s being outspent by other beverages in ad dollars, the Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP) has achieved extraordinary levels of awareness and education about the health and nutritional benefits of milk through this ad campaign.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3635\" style=\"width: 440px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nutritionknowhow.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Milk-Mustache-Day-2-047.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3635\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3635 \" style=\"border: 3px solid black; margin: 3px;\" title=\"Milk Mustache Day 2 047\" alt=\"Milk Mustache Day 2 047\" src=\"https:\/\/nutritionknowhow.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Milk-Mustache-Day-2-047-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"430\" height=\"323\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3635\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mrs. Adams, Kindergarten Teacher<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to our Fuel Up to Play 60 grant, St. Bernard Catholic School was able to participate in a milk mustache booth this week.\u00a0 Over a two day period, around 190 school age children sampled low fat, high calcium muffins and posed for a milk mustache picture.\u00a0 The response was overwhelming!\u00a0 The kids had a blast, and now their pictures are hanging in the school cafeteria to remind them about the importance of drinking milk.\u00a0 After the holidays, they will be able to take their pictures home with a parent handout on the importance of dairy in their children&#8217;s diet.\u00a0 I highly recommend that you give this booth a try&#8212;it was not hard, and the benefits will be reaped for years to come.<\/p>\n<p>Yogurt &amp; Banana Spice Muffins<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"SYOQscCIG1\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.midwestdairy.com\/\">Homepage<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Homepage&#8221; &#8212; Midwest Dairy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.midwestdairy.com\/embed\/#?secret=LnXCcypVoL#?secret=SYOQscCIG1\" data-secret=\"SYOQscCIG1\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nServings: 20<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<br \/>\n1 (18.25 ounces) box spice cake mix<br \/>\n1 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt<br \/>\n2 large eggs<br \/>\n2 ripe large bananas, mashed with fork<br \/>\n\u00bd cup low-fat milk<br \/>\n1 cup chopped walnuts<br \/>\nCooking spray<br \/>\n3 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon powdered sugar, optional<\/p>\n<p>Preparation<br \/>\nPreheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, yogurt, eggs, bananas and milk until just\u00a0combined. Fold in walnuts. Using \u00bc cup measuring cup, pour into muffin tins coated with cooking spray. Bake for\u00a0about 25 minutes or until center of muffin tests clean with toothpick. Let cool for 5 minutes in pan on wire rack. Remove muffins from pan, cool completely.
